Good day, my dear literature monkeys! Looky here, now-- it's time for another one of our contests.
Please let me start this journal off by apologizing for my absence lately. I have been on deviantART, I simply haven't been participating as much as I'd like to. Life comes up when you least expect it to, see. Flowers start blooming, the sun comes out and then it all goes down hill from there. Needless to say, my attention span is nonexistent as of late. Do forgive me, darlings.
Alright, let's start this funny business, eh? Are you ready for this!? I know the answer! I can just see it now-- you, waiting with bated breath for your mission, pencil in hand-- err, keyboard, I mean... You skipped over this part, didn't you? Oh, why bother, here goes.
YOUR MISSION:
Everyone has something they care about, especially in a time like today. Revolutions tear through the world, new ideas are being spread, there is hope ruminating around us, we breathe it in every day... and, not only do these positive vibes sweep over the world-- there are great tragedies linked with them... Natural disaster wreaks havoc. People all around the world struggle for their basic rights-- we are starving, without homes, without clean water, dying of disease and/or solvable illnesses. Terror, fear, poverty, violence-- it suffocates us-- from America to third world countries. Change is inevitable.
I want you to write a poem, short story, something-- involving a change in the world you are happy/unhappy about or a cause that you are passionate about (human rights, world hunger, world peace, feminism, environment, end of bigotry, etc...). Be creative. Think about it. Let your emotions take you away into something bigger than yourself, fester and explode with passion. Convince the reader that this cause is important. I have a feeling the debris of your efforts will be astounding beyond all measure.
I want to see what you do with this, so these rules will be very broad. Don't worry too much-- there aren't too many lines to fit into. This piece is primarily meant to be emotional. Just let go and go with it.
RULES:
The subject of this piece must be about a change in the world you are happy/unhappy about, a cause that you are passionate about, etc.
Good grammar is imperative, unless it contributes to the piece creatively (dialogue, etc). Good spelling and correct usage of capitalization are nonnegotiable, dear.
You have to be a member of Scribes-Are-Beckoned in order to participate-- and, by all means, join if you want to! We welcome new members with a hearty, virtual hug!
Make sure your finished piece makes it to our CONTEST folder, pretty please-- otherwise, we will not be able to bask in the glory of your creation.
Be emotional, be passionate, be creative, take flight.
If you have a question-- don't be shy! Comment or send me (Lis) a message.

SEVENTH CONTEST: Simple Pleasure... *CLOSED*
Greetings, scribes!
Nice to be writing to you again... Guess what it's time for? Our seventh contest ever, of course! I know you're just terribly excited, considering the long wait and all after our last contest, so please try to contain your excitement. Gosh, get a hold of yourself-- I'll tell you what it's about in a second here.
Okay, so gloomy weather is setting in again due to the natural course of things. When the sun goes away it's time to batten down the hatches and get ready for stormy winter-- break out the sweaters, the scarves and the logs. We all start learning to rely on simple pleasures to substitute for sunshine, like

I read this by chance a couple weeks/days/don't-know-how-long ago, and it inspired me to write a poem. But I've already submitted it to my gallery, and I wasn't a member of this group when I did so. May I still enter?
